Booker is the son of Veronica Gutiérrez, a cosmetologist, and Melvin Booker, the Big Eight Player of the Year in 1994.

His parents met while his father was playing basketball in Gutiérrez's hometown for the Continental Basketball Association's Grand Rapids Hoops.
