He is the son of former NBA star Melvin Booker. After a season of collegiate basketball with the Kentucky Wildcats
Booker was chosen 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2015 NBA draught.

the Boston Celtics
Booker became the NBA's youngest player with consecutive 50-point games in March 2019, at the age of 22.
Booker is the son of Veronica Gutiérrez, a cosmetologist, and Melvin Booker, the Big Eight Player of the Year in 1994.
His parents met while his father was playing basketball in Gutiérrez's hometown for the Continental Basketball Association's Grand Rapids Hoops.
